- More generous than King's medicine, and split deliberately. Applicants resitting Level 3 qualifications for the first time, completing A-levels within three years, can be considered. A second resit, completing within four years, is usually considered only where there are mitigating circumstances, and is referred to the faculty.
- Personal statement
- Read, though not as a scored ranking component. King's ranks on GCSEs, UCAT and contextual data first, then reviews the rest of the application including the personal statement and reference to settle who is invited, so it can affect the outcome at the margin without being a score of its own.

The jump is the part worth reading. The average person who applied scored 2,604; the average person who was actually interviewed scored 2,884, 280 marks higher. That difference is the UCAT doing its work at the interview gate. Past that gate it stops mattering: offer holders averaged about the same as everyone interviewed, so the interview decided the rest.

For UK applicants in the 2024 cycle the mean UCAT rose from 2604 among everyone who applied to 2884 among those interviewed, then barely moved to 2898 among offer holders, the same shape as King's medicine: the test decides the shortlist and the interview decides the rest.
