How many UK medical and dental schools are there?

This directory covers 68 UK medical and dental courses at 52 universities: 51 medicine courses and 17 dentistry courses, including standard-entry and graduate-entry programmes. The two counts overlap: 16 universities teach both. Every medical school listed here appears in the Medical Schools Council's own A-Z of UK medical schools.

How do I choose which medical or dental schools to apply to?

UCAS gives five course choices, and at most four in any one of medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or veterinary science. The cap is per subject, so four medicine plus one dentistry is allowed. Within your four, compare each school's UCAT cut-off, A-level requirements and interview format using this directory, then aim for a mix of ambitious, realistic and safety options rather than applying to four schools with near-identical requirements.

What information does each school's page include?

Every school page covers how that school uses the UCAT, and its published cut-off where it has one, plus SJT policy, interview format, and the A-level and GCSE requirements for the 59 courses that set them. The graduate-entry routes ask for a degree instead. Every claim is sourced to that school's own admissions page with a link and a last-checked date.
