Anglia Ruskin University Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements
Anglia Ruskin University has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.
- 2027 UCAT cut off
- Not published
- How the UCAT is weighted
- UCAT score used in selection process alongside academic achievement.
- SJT policy
- SJT band used in selection.
- A-level requirements
- AAA including Biology or Chemistry as the first A-level, a second from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths or Psychology, and any third subject. General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted, and a pass in the practical element is required for Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Widening access (WAMS) offer is ABB plus a 5% uplift to the UCAT score. GCSEs: a minimum of four at grade 5/B or above including Maths, English Language and two sciences.
- Interview
Multiple Mini Interview, December to January.
Anglia Ruskin does not publish three of the five things a candidate needs before an interview.
Anglia Ruskin interview: full format, stations, dates and what is not published
- Resits
- Accepted, but with a first-sitting floor that the headline grades hide. Predicted A-level resit grades of AAA are accepted (ABB for applicants eligible under the Widening Access to Medicine Scheme), taken within three academic years prior to application - but ARU adds that 'At first sitting, applicants must have achieved at least AAB (or BBB for those eligible under the Widening Access to Medicine Scheme).' That floor applies only to applicants presenting predicted resit grades. If the resit grades are already achieved at the point of application, AAA (or ABB under WAMS) is accepted and the first-sitting requirement does not apply - ARU's own example is an applicant who achieved CDD first time and has since achieved AAA, who can be considered.
- Personal statement
- Not used to select, but used at interview. That combination catches out applicants who have been told statements no longer count. ARU says it does not directly use the personal statement in the selection process, and in the same breath that you should be prepared to discuss or use aspects of it at the MMIs.
What the UCAT had to be, 2026 entry
Out of 2,700. Anglia Ruskin University's own published figures.
- Published threshold
- 2,010/ 2,700
- the stated floor
- Widening participation threshold
- 1,830/ 2,700
The most granular contextual scheme found anywhere in this dataset, and ARU publishes both the raw cut-off and the score after its uplift is applied, so the working is visible. For 2026 entry non-graduates: 2010 with no uplift, 1960 for East of England, 1920 for Essex, 1920 for WAMS eligibility, 1870 for East of England combined with WAMS, and 1830 for Essex combined with WAMS. That is a 180-mark spread between the hardest and easiest route into the same course. Graduates sit lower again at 2010's equivalent of 1830, with 1790 for East of England and 1740 for Essex. A band 4 SJT ends the application regardless of total. The 1830 recorded here as the contextual figure is the lowest published route, so no eligible applicant is wrongly ruled out.
Earlier cycles are not shown because the UCAT maximum changed from 3,600 to 2,700 when Abstract Reasoning was removed. A threshold from before that is a different unit, not a higher standard. Anglia Ruskin University application data, checked 2026-09-01.
Applications, interviews and offers
Anglia Ruskin University publishes none.
That is the university's own position, not a gap in our research. We read the page below and it carries no application, interview or offer counts. Any funnel quoted for Anglia Ruskin University elsewhere is somebody's reconstruction, so treat it accordingly.

National benchmark, for context
For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2026 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1918 (out of 2,700) across 42,359 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1920 and the top decile at 2250+. This is a national figure, not Anglia Ruskin University's own threshold, since Anglia Ruskin University doesn't publish one for the current cycle.
UCAT Consortium, Test Statistics 2026Standard A-level offer: AAA including Biology or Chemistry as the first A-level, a second from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths or Psychology, and any third subject. SJT policy: SJT band used in selection. Worth knowing: ARU publishes a separate cut-off for every route, and adjusts the UCAT for where an applicant lives: residency in Essex carries a 5% uplift, and residency in the East of England, which ARU defines as Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, carries 2.5%. Widening access under WAMS carries a further 5%, and the uplifts stack. For 2026 entry the non-graduate cut-offs were 2010 on the main route with no uplift, 1920 for an Essex applicant, 1920 for a WAMS applicant, 1960 for an East of England applicant, 1830 for an Essex applicant who is also WAMS-eligible, and 1870 for an East of England applicant who is also WAMS-eligible. Graduate cut-offs run lower: 1830 main, 1740 Essex, 1790 East of England. Interviews are six MMI stations of seven minutes, with a minute to read the instructions outside each. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
