Cardiff University Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements
Cardiff University has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.
- 2027 UCAT cut off
- Not published
- How the UCAT is weighted
- UCAT total score is converted into deciles and combined with GCSE points to form part of the academic score used to rank applicants for interview; a UCAT cut-off may additionally be applied to shortlist further if too many applicants tie on academic score. There is no fixed, predetermined threshold.
- SJT policy
- Not published as a separate scored component. No Cardiff admissions document mentions a distinct SJT band or SJT-specific cut-off; only the overall UCAT decile score is used in selection.
- A-level requirements
- Standard offer AAA, including Biology or Chemistry as a core subject plus a second science subject (Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics or Psychology); third subject can be any academic subject. GCSEs: 8 subjects including 7/A in Biology and Chemistry (or Double Science), 6/B in Mathematics, 6/B in English Language, plus 4 more at 6/B or above.
- Interview format
- Multiple Mini Interview: several individual stations with themed questions covering ethics, motivation, teamwork, communication and understanding of a medical career; exact station count not published. In person for home fee status applicants, online for overseas fee status applicants.
National benchmark, for context
For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2025 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1891 (out of 2,700) across 41,354 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1880 and the top decile at 2220+. This is a national figure, not Cardiff University's own threshold, since Cardiff University doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

Worth knowing: Cardiff has already published its variation-to-admissions-policy document for the current cycle (a distinct file from the prior year's version), which is why this record has fewer open caveats than the equivalent Dentistry record. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
