QUB's admission policy statement for 2027 entry states that the MMI will consist of nine stations for Home fee applicants, who attend in person in Belfast, and that the online MMI for International fee applicants will consist of 7 stations. It adds that candidates will be informed of the number of stations and the format of the interview day later in the application process. The stations are designed to test four non-cognitive competencies QUB names as empathy, problem-solving, moral reasoning and communication skills. Section 3.4 of Queen's Admissions Policy Statement for Medicine 2027, linked from the A100 course page, is headed 'Personal Statement and References' and opens: 'Personal Statements are not scored as part of the selection process.' It then sets out what candidates are expected to show, so the statement is read against expectations rather than marked.

What the UCAT had to be

Queen's publishes places and not a funnel. Its medicine admissions FAQ for 2026 entry gives 236 places for Home (UK and RoI) students, which it says has been its normal Home intake for the last several years, and normally 36 places in the international fee status category. The Republic of Ireland government funded 25 additional places in each of 2024 and 2025, and Queen's states it expected to hear in May or June 2026 whether any would be available for 2026 entry. Queen's says the University will collate and publish final statistics on the number of offers made and the lowest ranked applicant to be made an offer after the UCAS decision deadline of 13 May 2026; no such table is on the page.

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2026 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1918 (out of 2,700) across 42,359 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1920 and the top decile at 2250+. Applicants are scored at Stage 1 on a combined academic and UCAT score and ranked, with up to nine points available from the UCAT decile rank: one point at or below the 10th centile rising to nine points above the 90th. From 2026 entry onwards the UCAT overall score Queen's uses covers verbal reasoning, decision making and quantitative reasoning. The Situational Judgement Test is not scored into that total at all; Queen's uses it only to separate borderline applicants, either those on a similar combined academic and UCAT score or those on a similar interview score. Queen's states that it reviews the weighting of the UCAT annually and that the points above are subject to change.
