Bangor University Medicine: Entry Requirements, UCAT and Interview
Bangor University has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

- Bangor requires the UCAT, sat in the year of application, but publishes no minimum threshold. Its FAQs state that eligible applicants are ranked by UCAT score and the highest scorers are invited to interview until all slots are filled, so the bar is whatever that year's field produces rather than a number an applicant can check themselves against in advance.
- SJT policy
- Bangor's medicine FAQs state that UCAT Situational Judgement scores are currently not considered, adding that this is subject to change. No band is named as an automatic rejection, and no band is named as a requirement.
- A-level requirements
- Standard offer AAA including Biology or Chemistry plus an additional science from Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Economics, Mathematics, Further Mathematics or Statistics, with compulsory sciences at grade A or above. Applicants must pass the science practical element of the A-level where that is part of their programme of study. Bangor does not accept General Studies, Key Skills, Critical Thinking or Citizenship Studies; other non-standard subjects are reviewed case by case and may not be accepted. BTEC, Access to Higher Education courses and T Levels are not accepted for this programme. Scottish applicants need AAB at Advanced Higher including Biology and Chemistry.

- Resits
- Bangor University publishes no resit policy. That is not the same as resits being accepted, and it is worth asking admissions directly before relying on either reading.
- Personal statement
- Bangor lists the statement under Additional Entry Requirements rather than as a preference: 'You must also demonstrate an awareness of the healthcare system in the UK and the nature of the medical training in your personal statement.'

What the UCAT had to be
Bangor University does not publish one.
That is the university's own position, not a gap in our research. Any specific number quoted for Bangor University elsewhere is somebody's reconstruction from reported scores, not a figure the medical school has confirmed. Treat it accordingly.
Bangor states plainly that it has no minimum UCAT threshold, and publishes no mean or median for those interviewed. The score still counts: it is used as part of selection, so a low total is a disadvantage rather than a disqualification. Applicants must sit the UCAT in the year of application.

Bangor publishes only an approximate place count for 2027 entry and no application, interview or offer figures. The course is open only to applicants with permanent UK residency and Home fee status, so there is no international intake.

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2026 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1918 (out of 2,700) across 42,359 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1920 and the top decile at 2250+. This is a national figure, not Bangor University's own threshold, since Bangor University doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

Worth knowing: The North Wales Medical School's own five-year A100 BMBS, built on the earlier C21 North Wales programme rather than remaining a Cardiff-delivered course. Bangor states that it currently only accepts applications from those with permanent UK residency on the date of application, so this course is closed to international applicants. The main campus is Bangor, and Bangor says the campus may change to Wrexham during years 3, 4 and 5 depending on placement. A100 was already full for September 2026 at the point of checking, with 2027 entry applications opening on 1 September 2026 and closing 15 October 2026. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
