University of Hertfordshire Medicine: Entry Requirements, UCAT and Interview
University of Hertfordshire has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

- University of Hertfordshire publishes no resit policy. That is not the same as resits being accepted, and it is worth asking admissions directly before relying on either reading.
- Personal statement
- Hertfordshire states it plainly under its MMI section: 'While we do not directly use your personal statement in the selection process, you should be prepared to discuss your statement.' Selection for interview is by UCAT ranking among applicants meeting the academic requirements, so the statement reaches the interview and not the shortlist.

What the UCAT had to be
University of Hertfordshire does not publish one.
That is the university's own position, not a gap in our research. Any specific number quoted for University of Hertfordshire elsewhere is somebody's reconstruction from reported scores, not a figure the medical school has confirmed. Treat it accordingly.
Hertfordshire has no standard cut-off value and says so. Applicants meeting the academic requirements are ranked by UCAT and the top of that ranking is invited to interview, and the school states explicitly that it is not possible to tell applicants in advance what score will be enough.

University of Hertfordshire publishes no figures for this course.
Hertfordshire's medical school is new and has no completed cycle to publish. It gave up to 70 places on the MBBS for September 2026, with applications for that first cohort accepted from international students only. Its 2025 announcement said places were expected for home students from 2027, but the course page now states the MBBS is available to international students for September 2027 entry, with home places to follow once government funding for additional medical school places is secured. There is therefore no home funnel to record, and no application, interview or offer count of any kind.

National benchmark, for context
For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2026 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1918 (out of 2,700) across 42,359 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1920 and the top decile at 2250+. This is a national figure, not University of Hertfordshire's own threshold, since University of Hertfordshire doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

Worth knowing: This course is not open to UK applicants. Hertfordshire states that applications are open to international students only, with the first cohort starting in September 2026 and plans to open to UK fee-paying students afterwards. The degree is also not yet GMC-accredited: Hertfordshire says it is working with the General Medical Council to gain accreditation, that the GMC follows a new school's first cohort from first year through to graduation, and that only at the end of that first cycle can the GMC approve the school to award UK primary medical qualifications. Anyone joining the first cohort is joining before that decision is made. Applicants must be at least 18 by the start of the course, and Hertfordshire says the UCAT score of those invited to interview varies year on year and that it cannot indicate what score will be needed. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
