University of Manchester Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements

University of Manchester has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

2027 UCAT cut off
Not published
How the UCAT is weighted
Threshold calculated annually after November UCAT results are released; not published in advance. If interview places are oversubscribed among otherwise-qualified candidates, the university ranks by UCAT total score and SJT band.
SJT policy
Only Band 1 or 2 is considered. Applicants achieving Band 3 or 4 are not considered further.
A-level requirements
AAA including Biology/Human Biology or Chemistry, plus one further subject from Chemistry, Biology/Human Biology, Physics, Psychology, Mathematics or Further Mathematics. Contextual offer: AAB, same subject requirements. GCSEs: 7+ at grade A(7)/A*(8) including English Language and Maths at minimum grade 6, plus at least two science subjects at minimum grade 6 (or BB in Dual Award/Core and Additional Science).
Interview format
Multiple Mini Interview: 5 stations, 8 minutes each with a 2-minute gap between stations. Starting station assigned randomly; no advance information given, and no reading or writing component. Available online via Zoom or in person in Manchester, assessed identically either way.

National benchmark, for context

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2025 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1891 (out of 2,700) across 41,354 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1880 and the top decile at 2220+. This is a national figure, not University of Manchester's own threshold, since University of Manchester doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

UCAT Consortium, Test Statistics 2025

Standard A-level offer: AAA including Biology/Human Biology or Chemistry, plus one further subject from Chemistry, Biology/Human Biology, Physics, Psychology, Mathematics or Further Mathematics. Contextual offer: AAB, same subject requirements. GCSEs: 7+ at grade A(7)/A*(8) including English Language and Maths at minimum grade 6, plus at least two science subjects at minimum grade 6 (or BB in Dual Award/Core and Additional Science). SJT policy: Only Band 1 or 2 is considered. Applicants achieving Band 3 or 4 are not considered further. Worth knowing: UCAT policy is stated to change from the 2026 cycle; check the university's UCAT page each year rather than relying on a prior year's threshold. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
