University of Edinburgh Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements

University of Edinburgh publishes a live 2027-entry UCAT cut-off of 1850. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

2027 UCAT cut off
1850
How the UCAT is weighted
UCAT total score is ranked into deciles (10 equal groups) and converted to a score; SJT banding is also scored. Both are added to the academic score to produce a ranking used for shortlisting to an Assessment Day. No percentage weighting breakdown is published.
SJT policy
SJT banding contributes points to the ranking, but any applicant scoring Band 4 is automatically excluded from consideration regardless of widening-access eligibility.
A-level requirements
Standard offer AAA in one sitting: Chemistry plus one of Biology/Human Biology, Mathematics/Further Mathematics or Physics. GCSEs required at grade A/7 in Biology, Chemistry, English and Maths. Widening access offer is AAB with GCSEs at grade B/6.
Interview format
Multiple Mini Interview format, delivered as an assessment half-day with a series of short interview stations. Scottish and rest-of-UK/Republic of Ireland fee-rate applicants are required to attend in person; exact station count and timing for the current cycle are not published.

Worth knowing: The 1,850 cut-off is Edinburgh's own published minimum for 2027 entry, not a historical or estimated figure. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
