University of Dundee Dentistry: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements

University of Dundee has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for dentistry.

2027 UCAT cut off
Not published
How the UCAT is weighted
Dundee states selection for interview is based on academic achievement to date, including predicted grades, and UCAT score, but publishes no percentage split between the two. There is no minimum UCAT cut-off score.
SJT policy
No standalone SJT requirement or SJT band cut-off is published on Dundee's official entry-requirements or interview pages for Dentistry.
A-level requirements
Standard offer AAA, with essential subjects A-level Biology and Chemistry to be achieved in the same sitting; A-level General Studies not accepted. GCSE English and Mathematics required at least grade B/6.
Interview

Dundee describes its interview without calling it an MMI or a panel, seven stations, both, depending on the applicant, December to January.

Dundee does not publish two of the five things a candidate needs before an interview.

Resits
University of Dundee publishes no resit policy. That is not the same as resits being accepted, and it is worth asking admissions directly before relying on either reading.
Personal statement
University of Dundee does not publish how it uses the personal statement. Schools in this dataset range from scoring it to refusing to read it, so nothing can safely be assumed from silence.

What the UCAT had to be, 2023-24 entry

Out of 3,600. University of Dundee's own published figures.

Every figure below is 2023-24 entry.
Lowest score actually interviewed

Average of those interviewed

where you actually need to be

Out of 3,600, and stopping at 2023-24 entry, so this is history rather than a target. The average UCAT of those interviewed sat between 2525 and 2608 across five years while the lowest interviewed swung from 2120 down to 1940, so the floor moved far more than the middle did. Applications nearly doubled over the period, 499 to 783, while interviews stayed near 300, which is the clearest single measure of dentistry getting harder. There was no intake at all in 2021-22 because of the pandemic.

Earlier cycles are not shown because the UCAT maximum changed from 3,600 to 2,700 when Abstract Reasoning was removed. A threshold from before that is a different unit, not a higher standard. University of Dundee application data, checked 2026-09-01.

Your actual chances, 2023-24 entry

University of Dundee's own published figures, not an estimate.

These are 2023-24 entry figures.
ApplicantAppliedInterviewedOffersOffer rate
Scotland-domiciled204149 (73%)7135%
Rest of UK or Republic of Ireland483127 (26%)174%
Overseas9658 (60%)2829%

Dundee splits its table three ways and the split is the story: 71 offers from 204 Scotland-domiciled applications is a 35% offer rate, and 17 from 483 rest-of-UK applications is 3.5%. Merging the two produces 687 applications and 88 offers, a 12.8% rate that neither group experiences.

Offer rate is offers as a share of applications, so it already accounts for everyone cut before interview. University of Dundee application data, checked 2026-09-14.

National benchmark, for context

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2026 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1918 (out of 2,700) across 42,359 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1920 and the top decile at 2250+. This is a national figure, not University of Dundee's own threshold, since University of Dundee doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

UCAT Consortium, Test Statistics 2026

Standard A-level offer: Standard offer AAA, with essential subjects A-level Biology and Chemistry to be achieved in the same sitting; A-level General Studies not accepted. GCSE English and Mathematics required at least grade B/6. SJT policy: No standalone SJT requirement or SJT band cut-off is published on Dundee's official entry-requirements or interview pages for Dentistry. Worth knowing: The fee-status gap here is the widest in this directory by a distance, and it should probably decide whether a rest-of-UK applicant spends a choice at all: for 2023/24 entry Dundee made 71 offers to 204 Scotland-domiciled applicants and 17 to 483 rest-of-UK applicants. Across all applicants the average UCAT among those interviewed was 2,567 with a range of 1,940 to 3,200, but that is on the old 3,600 scale and Dundee says plainly its published statistics are not comparable with a score sat from 2025 onwards. Interviews are in person, seven stations. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
