University of Nottingham has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

- How the UCAT is weighted
- UCAT cognitive subtests are combined into a score out of 40, with Verbal Reasoning double-weighted based on published research evidence Nottingham cites. This combines with GCSE scores to rank applicants for interview; there is no fixed UCAT pass mark, and the university states it cannot predict this cycle's threshold.
- SJT policy
- Used at initial screening. A Band 4 SJT result means the applicant is not accepted for interview consideration. Bands 1 to 3 score 10, 6 and 2 points respectively toward the ranking score.
- A-level requirements
- Standard offer AAA including Biology (or Human Biology) and Chemistry, achieved within a two-year study period in one sitting; Citizenship Studies, Critical Thinking, General Studies and Global Perspectives cannot be the third subject. GCSE: minimum six at grade 7/A including Biology and Chemistry, plus grade 6/B in Maths and English Language. Nottingham publishes two contextual tiers for UK applicants: a standard contextual offer of AAB with at least one A in biology or chemistry, and an enhanced contextual offer of ABB on the same subject terms. Elite athletes meeting the Department of Sport criteria are offered AAB, as are international fee-status applicants who meet the contextual mitigations policy.
- Interview
Nottingham describes its interview without calling it an MMI or a panel, six stations, both, depending on the applicant, December to January.
Nottingham does not publish two of the five things a candidate needs before an interview.

- Resits
- Nottingham publishes both a GCSE and an A-level resit rule. For A levels: 'We'll also consider resits for up to two A levels as long as: you have completed your A levels in the last 12 months; you have already obtained at least ABB with at least one A in biology/human biology or chemistry; your achieved resit grades meet AAA and include biology (or human biology) and chemistry.' For GCSEs: no more than one subject resit, in maths, English language, biology, human biology, chemistry or double science, with the achieved resit grade a minimum of Level 6 in maths or English language and Level 7 in biology, human biology, chemistry or double science. Separately, Nottingham does not score A levels or require predicted grades when selecting for interview, so a resit does not affect ranking - but it must clear the gate above to be considered at all.
- Personal statement
- Not scored. Nottingham says it will not score personal statements or school references, but will review them after interview to check they are satisfactory. Offers rest on interview performance.
What the UCAT had to be, 2026 entry
University of Nottingham does not publish one.
That is the university's own position, not a gap in our research. Any specific number quoted for University of Nottingham elsewhere is somebody's reconstruction from reported scores, not a figure the medical school has confirmed. Treat it accordingly.
Nottingham states there is no fixed threshold score to be selected for interview, that thresholds change each year with applicant numbers and overall performance, and, unusually explicitly, that it does not share information about previous years' interview thresholds. There is no figure to find here, rather than one nobody has looked for.

University of Nottingham publishes no figures for this course.
Nottingham publishes ranges rather than figures and attaches no year to them. Over the past few years, in its own words, A100 has had 1,874 to 2,100 home applicants meet the entry criteria and 190 to 327 international ones, interviewed 823 to 1,219 home applicants and 60 to 96 international, made 267 to 642 home offers and 28 to 60 international, against about 200 places for home students and about 20 for international. A108 Medicine with a Foundation Year is given separately: 187 to 443 applicants meeting the criteria, 100 to 125 interviewed, 35 to 65 offers, about 27 places. Nottingham's own advice beside those ranges is not to base a decision to apply on application data from previous years, because the numbers of applicants, interviews and offers change every year. The offer range is the reason: 267 to 642 is a spread of almost two and a half times.

National benchmark, for context
For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2026 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1918 (out of 2,700) across 42,359 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1920 and the top decile at 2250+. This is a national figure, not University of Nottingham's own threshold, since University of Nottingham doesn't publish one for the current cycle.
