University of Nottingham Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements

University of Nottingham has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

2027 UCAT cut off
Not published
How the UCAT is weighted
UCAT cognitive subtests are combined into a score out of 40, with Verbal Reasoning double-weighted based on published research evidence Nottingham cites. This combines with GCSE scores to rank applicants for interview; there is no fixed UCAT pass mark, and the university states it cannot predict this cycle's threshold.
SJT policy
Used at initial screening. A Band 4 SJT result means the applicant is not accepted for interview consideration. Bands 1 to 3 score 10, 6 and 2 points respectively toward the ranking score.
A-level requirements
Standard offer AAA including Biology (or Human Biology) and Chemistry, achieved within a two-year study period in one sitting; Citizenship Studies, Critical Thinking, General Studies and Global Perspectives cannot be the third subject. GCSE: minimum six at grade 7/A including Biology and Chemistry, plus grade 6/B in Maths and English Language.
Interview format
Six scenario stations including at least one role-play, lasting up to one hour in total. For the current cycle, home applicants interview in person and international applicants interview online via Microsoft Teams. Interviews run mid-December to late January.

National benchmark, for context

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2025 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1891 (out of 2,700) across 41,354 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1880 and the top decile at 2220+. This is a national figure, not University of Nottingham's own threshold, since University of Nottingham doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

UCAT Consortium, Test Statistics 2025

Standard A-level offer: Standard offer AAA including Biology (or Human Biology) and Chemistry, achieved within a two-year study period in one sitting; Citizenship Studies, Critical Thinking, General Studies and Global Perspectives cannot be the third subject. GCSE: minimum six at grade 7/A including Biology and Chemistry, plus grade 6/B in Maths and English Language. SJT policy: Used at initial screening. A Band 4 SJT result means the applicant is not accepted for interview consideration. Bands 1 to 3 score 10, 6 and 2 points respectively toward the ranking score. Worth knowing: A-level grades are not scored in the selection ranking but remain a condition of any offer. Nottingham does not publish a numeric UCAT cut-off for any cycle, historical or current, as a matter of policy. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
