University of Leicester Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements

University of Leicester has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

2027 UCAT cut off
Not published
How the UCAT is weighted
UCAT forms 50% of the pre-interview scoring system (worth up to 48 of 96 points for standard/graduate applicants, up to 24 of 76 for Access applicants), scored via a banded points table against total UCAT score. Candidates in the bottom 2 deciles are not considered further; the exact cut score is not disclosed in advance.
SJT policy
Applicants with SJT Band 4 are automatically rejected pre-interview. Guaranteed-interview widening-access routes additionally require SJT Band 1 to 3 combined with a UCAT score in the top 7 deciles.
A-level requirements
Standard offer A*AA including Chemistry or Biology plus one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths or Psychology (General Studies, Citizenship Studies, Critical Thinking and Global Perspectives excluded); alternate offers of AAAB or AAA plus EPQ/4th-subject AS also considered. GCSE: minimum grade B/6 in English Language, Maths and two sciences.
Interview format
Multiple Mini Interview. Leicester is currently planning face-to-face interviews for home applicants and online interviews for international applicants; exact station count is not fixed. Interviews normally run December to January, released in batches.

National benchmark, for context

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2025 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1891 (out of 2,700) across 41,354 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1880 and the top decile at 2220+. This is a national figure, not University of Leicester's own threshold, since University of Leicester doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

UCAT Consortium, Test Statistics 2025

Standard A-level offer: Standard offer A*AA including Chemistry or Biology plus one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths or Psychology (General Studies, Citizenship Studies, Critical Thinking and Global Perspectives excluded); alternate offers of AAAB or AAA plus EPQ/4th-subject AS also considered. GCSE: minimum grade B/6 in English Language, Maths and two sciences. SJT policy: Applicants with SJT Band 4 are automatically rejected pre-interview. Guaranteed-interview widening-access routes additionally require SJT Band 1 to 3 combined with a UCAT score in the top 7 deciles. Worth knowing: Leicester states it reserves the right to change its scoring system at any point, so the weighting formula here should be checked each cycle rather than assumed to carry over. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
