University of Leicester has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

- How the UCAT is weighted
- UCAT forms 50% of the pre-interview scoring system (worth up to 48 of 96 points for standard/graduate applicants, up to 24 of 76 for Access applicants), scored via a banded points table against total UCAT score. Candidates in the bottom 2 deciles are not considered further; the exact cut score is not disclosed in advance.
- SJT policy
- Applicants with SJT Band 4 are automatically rejected pre-interview. Guaranteed-interview widening-access routes additionally require SJT Band 1 to 3 combined with a UCAT score in the top 7 deciles.
- A-level requirements
- Standard offer A*AA including Chemistry or Biology plus one of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths or Psychology (General Studies, Citizenship Studies, Critical Thinking and Global Perspectives excluded); alternate offers of AAAB or AAA plus EPQ/4th-subject AS also considered. GCSE: minimum grade B/6 in English Language, Maths and two sciences.

- Resits
- University of Leicester publishes no resit policy. That is not the same as resits being accepted, and it is worth asking admissions directly before relying on either reading.
- Personal statement
- Leicester's 2027-entry scoring document states: 'The personal statement and reference are not routinely scored, except for candidates applying with an Access to Medicine qualification. However, for borderline candidates or in tiebreak situations, the personal statement and reference may be used.' So it cannot lift an ordinary application, and can settle a close one.
What the UCAT had to be
University of Leicester does not publish one.
That is the university's own position, not a gap in our research. Any specific number quoted for University of Leicester elsewhere is somebody's reconstruction from reported scores, not a figure the medical school has confirmed. Treat it accordingly.
Leicester publishes no threshold score but does publish a decile rule, which is more durable because it moves with the national cohort. Home fee status candidates in their first gap year are automatically invited to interview with a total UCAT in the top five deciles and an SJT in bands 1 to 3. Leicester also warns that its A100 scoring changed substantially for 2026 entry because of the change to the UCAT total, so earlier cycles are not a guide. Leicester prints six rows rather than two, splitting each fee status into graduate applicants, non-graduates with predicted A-levels and non-graduates with achieved A-levels, and prints no Home or Overseas subtotal. The Home figures here add Leicester's three Home rows - 100, 1,743 and 134 applications, 50, 1,347 and 96 interviews, 32, 717 and 50 offers - and the Overseas figures add its three Overseas rows; both add back to the 2,622, 1,638 and 869 Leicester prints on its own Total line. The predicted-grades route is where the course is: 1,743 of 1,977 Home applications. Leicester excludes five Access to HE candidates from these tables. These are A100; A199 Medicine with Foundation Year has its own table in the same document, reading 689 applications, 171 interviews, 98 offers and 38 places. Leicester's previous cycle ran 2,677 applications, 1,590 interviews and 876 offers. Leicester carries the same sentence on both documents, that offer making runs into June and the statistics will be updated then, so treat the offer column as the school's latest rather than its last word.

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2026 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1918 (out of 2,700) across 42,359 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1920 and the top decile at 2250+. This is a national figure, not University of Leicester's own threshold, since University of Leicester doesn't publish one for the current cycle.
