University College London Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements
University College London has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.
- 2027 UCAT cut off
- Not published
- How the UCAT is weighted
- UCL has no fixed pre-set threshold. The total UCAT score (out of 2,700, no Abstract Reasoning) is used to rank all eligible candidates, and only the top-scoring candidates are invited to interview. For 2026 entry, the last completed cycle, the minimum score actually invited was 2,190 (home), 2,300 (overseas) and 2,080 (Access UCL); UCL states past scores are not indicative of future cohorts.
- SJT policy
- Used only as a tiebreaker: where candidates have identical total UCAT scores, the SJT score is used to further rank them. No separate published SJT band cut-off.
- A-level requirements
- Standard offer A*AA, including A*A in Chemistry and Biology in either order. The third A-level can be any subject except General Studies or Critical Thinking, and all three must be sat together within a two-year period. GCSEs must include English Language and Maths at grade B/6 or above.
- Interview format
- Multiple Mini Interview with up to 8 stations, each 5 minutes plus 1 minute of reading time beforehand, roughly 50 minutes in total. Home fee-paying candidates interview in person in London; overseas candidates interview online. Interviews run on a rolling basis from December to the end of March.
National benchmark, for context
For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2025 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1891 (out of 2,700) across 41,354 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1880 and the top decile at 2220+. This is a national figure, not University College London's own threshold, since University College London doesn't publish one for the current cycle.
UCAT Consortium, Test Statistics 2025Standard A-level offer: Standard offer A*AA, including A*A in Chemistry and Biology in either order. The third A-level can be any subject except General Studies or Critical Thinking, and all three must be sat together within a two-year period. GCSEs must include English Language and Maths at grade B/6 or above. SJT policy: Used only as a tiebreaker: where candidates have identical total UCAT scores, the SJT score is used to further rank them. No separate published SJT band cut-off. Worth knowing: UCL labels the currently open cycle 2027 entry. A contextual-offer pathway is referenced in some UCL materials but was not independently confirmed against an official page in this research pass. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
