Imperial College London Medicine: UCAT, A-Levels & Interview Requirements

Imperial College London has not published a fixed UCAT cut-off for 2027 entry. Here's how UCAT, A-levels, SJT and the interview all fit together for medicine.

2027 UCAT cut off
Not published
How the UCAT is weighted
UCAT is used to help decide shortlisting for interview but is not the sole factor; the threshold varies year to year with the distribution of scores and the ratio of applicants to places. For 2026 entry (the last completed cycle), the published threshold was 2,320 for home applicants and 2,170 for contextual applicants, but Imperial does not guarantee this repeats.
SJT policy
For 2026 entry, a minimum SJT Band 3 was required alongside the UCAT threshold, with Band 4 discounted, for both home and contextual applicants. Not confirmed for the current cycle.
A-level requirements
Minimum entry standard A*AA, including A* and A in Biology and Chemistry (the A* in either subject) plus an A in a third subject. General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted, and all qualifications must be taken in the same sitting. No GCSE requirements published.
Interview format
Multiple Mini Interview, typically held throughout January and February. Each station allows 5 minutes to answer, marked out of 6 for content and 4 for communication. Total number of stations and online versus in-person delivery are not stated on the official pages checked.

National benchmark, for context

For context, the UCAT Consortium's own 2025 statistics report a mean cognitive score of 1891 (out of 2,700) across 41,354 tests, with the median (5th decile) at 1880 and the top decile at 2220+. This is a national figure, not Imperial College London's own threshold, since Imperial College London doesn't publish one for the current cycle.

UCAT Consortium, Test Statistics 2025

Standard A-level offer: Minimum entry standard A*AA, including A* and A in Biology and Chemistry (the A* in either subject) plus an A in a third subject. General Studies and Critical Thinking are not accepted, and all qualifications must be taken in the same sitting. No GCSE requirements published. SJT policy: For 2026 entry, a minimum SJT Band 3 was required alongside the UCAT threshold, with Band 4 discounted, for both home and contextual applicants. Not confirmed for the current cycle. Worth knowing: The 2,320/2,170 UCAT thresholds are Imperial's own retrospective figures for 2026 entry, explicitly described as recalculated annually and not a guarantee for future cycles. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
