A-level requirements

Swansea requires a 2:1 honours undergraduate degree in any subject, or a Merit in an integrated master's degree in any subject, or a 2:2 honours degree together with a Pass in a postgraduate higher degree, Masters or PhD, in any subject. The degree subject is not restricted to science. Minimum grade C at GCSE in Mathematics and minimum grade C at GCSE in English or Welsh are also required, and an admissions test must be completed by the time of application.

Resits

Swansea University publishes no resit policy. That is not the same as resits being accepted, and it is worth asking admissions directly before relying on either reading.

Personal statement

Used at interview only, and only as a possibility. The single thing Swansea publishes about the statement is that "You may also be questioned on the content of your personal statement within one or more of the stations" - so it may come up at assessment, but Swansea never says it is read, scored or used to shortlist. What Swansea does say plainly is what happens to the admissions test: "Following selection for interview, the results of any admissions tests will be considered no further. Any offer of a place to study MBBCh Medicine (Graduate Entry) at Swansea will be based solely on performance at interview."

Worth knowing: Swansea publishes a minimum UCAT of 1900 and sets a higher cut-score each year depending on how many apply, so 1900 is the floor for being considered rather than the bar for an interview. It also accepts GAMSAT, with a minimum of 50 overall and 50 in Paper 3, and the MCAT at 500 for international applicants, so a weak UCAT is not necessarily the end of the road here. One oddity to keep an eye on: the sentence describing shortlisting says applicants "are ranked based on their GAMSAT or MCAT scores" and does not name the UCAT, even though the entry requirements panel says "We will accept GAMSAT or UCAT" for home applicants. The line worth reading twice is what happens next: "Following selection for interview, the results of any admissions tests will be considered no further. Any offer of a place will be based solely on performance at interview." Nowhere else states so plainly that the test buys you the room and nothing after it. Always confirm against the official page before applying, since this is the most recent published position rather than a guarantee for the live cycle.
