Your Chances of an Interview: What the Schools Actually Publish
This is not a prediction, and it will never give you odds. It sets your UCAT, SJT band and grades against what each of 68 UK medicine and dentistry courses published about the applicants it interviewed last cycle, and links every line to the school's own page.
By Jayden Sammut and Rowan, MedAdmit's co-founders. How we source every figure
A school that published the lowest score it interviewed, or the average of those it interviewed, has told you more than a percentage could: where real applicants with a real score landed. The check puts your total beside those figures, school by school, and says plainly where a school published nothing to put it beside.
Where do you actually qualify to apply?
Enter what you have and we will check it against the UCAT thresholds, A-level offers, subject rules and GCSE minimums that UK medical and dental schools publish. Fill in as much or as little as you like: anything left blank is reported as unchecked rather than quietly passed. Your scores and grades are not sent to us, because this runs in your browser.
The SJT band and nation are used only by the interview check. Scottish schools publish separate figures for Scotland-domiciled and rest-of-UK applicants.
This is not a prediction.
It puts your figures next to what each school published about last cycle's applicants, one line per comparison, each linked to the school's own page. Schools rank everyone who meets their bar, and none of them publishes that ranking, so this never turns into odds.
For 33 of 51 medicine courses we hold no UCAT figure from the interview stage on the current scale to put you against. We say so rather than invent one.
A school's "Not yet checked" line lists what we have not researched there yet. It is a gap in our research, not a pass, and it is different from a school that publishes nothing, which we say in its own line with the date we looked.
Tell us which UK nation you live in: Scottish schools publish separate figures for Scotland-domiciled and rest-of-UK applicants.
Nothing published to measure your UCAT against (23)
We hold no UCAT figure from these schools' interview stage to measure you against. That is the answer for most UK courses, and it is about the schools, not about you. Where a school explains why, and how it chooses instead, its own words are under its name.
- Aston University says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Aston says "We do not consider the SJT banding in our ranking." Its published scoring rules add that the Situational Judgement Test banding will not be scored, and the UCAT is scored on its three cognitive sections.
- No UCAT figure from Aston University's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Aston states it has no lower cut-off for either the UCAT total or the SJT, which is a rarer position than it sounds: several schools in this dataset reject a band 4 SJT outright, so an applicant carrying one has a materially different set of realistic options and Aston is on it. The UCAT is weighed alongside the rest of the entry requirements rather than used as a gate.
- Aston University says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Aston says "Invitation to MMIs will be based on ranking of applicants established from academic qualifications and the total UCAT score." Home and widening participation applicants are ranked separately on achieved qualifications such as GCSEs plus total UCAT score, while overseas applicants are ranked on UCAT total score only.
- For 2020/21 entry, Aston University published that it interviewed 363 of 1,066 applicants in the group it calls "Home/EU". That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you. This is an older figure: the newest any school in our data publishes are for 2027 entry.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- Bangor University says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Bangor's medicine FAQs state that UCAT Situational Judgement scores are currently not considered, adding that this is subject to change. No band is named as an automatic rejection, and no band is named as a requirement.
- No UCAT figure from Bangor University's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-04, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-04)
What the school says
Bangor states plainly that it has no minimum UCAT threshold, and publishes no mean or median for those interviewed. The score still counts: it is used as part of selection, so a low total is a disadvantage rather than a disqualification. Applicants must sit the UCAT in the year of application.
- Bangor University says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Bangor requires the UCAT, sat in the year of application, but publishes no minimum threshold. Its FAQs state that eligible applicants are ranked by UCAT score and the highest scorers are invited to interview until all slots are filled, so the bar is whatever that year's field produces rather than a number an applicant can check themselves against in advance.
- Brighton and Sussex Medical School uses the SJT band as a gate before shortlisting and does not state that band 4 rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
BSMS does use the SJT band as a gate on interview selection. Its entry requirements page states that, to select for interview, applicants scoring a SJT band 1, 2 or 3 are ranked according to their UCAT score, with top ranking candidates invited to interview. BSMS does not say on that page what happens to an applicant scoring band 4.
- No UCAT figure from Brighton and Sussex Medical School's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
BSMS publishes no UCAT threshold on its own entry requirements page. What it does state is the mechanism: applicants scoring SJT band 1, 2 or 3 are ranked by UCAT score and the top ranked are invited, and applicants holding adjusted offers are ranked separately from the wider pool rather than against it. A threshold of 1990 for 2026 entry circulates on third-party sites; it does not appear on the BSMS page and is not reproduced here.
- Brighton and Sussex Medical School says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
BSMS does not publish a numeric UCAT cut-off. After screening against the academic requirements, applicants scoring an SJT band 1, 2 or 3 are ranked on their UCAT score and the top ranking candidates are invited to interview. Applicants with adjusted offers are ranked separately from the wider applicant pool, and BSMS aims to reserve 30 per cent of interviews for applicants with contextual data.
- For 2026 entry, Brighton and Sussex Medical School published that it interviewed 715 of 1,338 applicants in the group it calls "Home". That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
- Brunel University London says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Brunel's course page for 2027 entry says selection for interview is based on UCAT performance relative to other applicants, and adds: "Please note, we do not accept applicants with SJT Band 4." It publishes no other SJT band rule.
- No UCAT figure from Brunel University London's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Brunel sets no cut-off score. Selection for interview is by ranking against the rest of that year's applicants, so the effective bar is whatever the field produces. Brunel also accepts the GAMSAT in place of the UCAT and GAMSAT scores stay valid for two years, which means a disappointing UCAT is less final here than almost anywhere else.
- Brunel University London says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Brunel says home applicants are invited to interview on their UCAT or GAMSAT score: "While there's no set UCAT cut-off score, selection for interview is competitive and based on overall performance in the test relative to other applicants in the same year of entry." International applicants do not need the UCAT.
- Brunel University London publishes no count of how many applicants it interviewed. We checked on 2026-09-23.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- No UCAT figure from Cardiff University's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Cardiff publishes no minimum threshold and says a UCAT tariff may be used to help select for interview, with the score required varying each year according to how competitive the field is. Its full scoring process is set out in a separate admissions information document rather than on the course page.
- Cardiff University says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Applicants are given an academic score built from eight GCSE subjects, which must include Biology, Chemistry, English first language and Mathematics or Numeracy, and from the UCAT decile ranking; the two are combined. GCSEs score 3 points for a 9, 8 or A*, 2 points for a 7 or A, and 1 point for a 6 or B, on achieved grades only. UCAT deciles score 3 points for the 9th to 7th deciles, 2 points for the 6th to 4th, and 1 point for the 3rd to 1st. One additional point is awarded for academic achievement at further or higher education. Cardiff publishes no score to aim for and says only that a UCAT cut-off may be applied to shortlist further, and that a UCAT score may be used where the number of applicants on the same academic score exceeds the number of interview places.
- Edge Hill University says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Edge Hill states at the UCAT ranking stage of its selection process that "Any candidate scoring within band 4 in the Situational Judgement Test will be automatically rejected."
- No UCAT figure from Edge Hill University's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Edge Hill sets its threshold retrospectively, working back from the number of interviews it intends to hold, so no figure exists in advance by design rather than by policy of secrecy. The threshold is extended for widening participation candidates and for those who completed Edge Hill's own Widening Access to Medicine Programme.
- Edge Hill University says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Edge Hill says "Applicants who meet the minimum academic criteria will be ranked according to their UCAT scores." It then sets a UCAT threshold based on how many interviews it will hold, and applicants who meet that threshold are invited to interview.
- Edge Hill University publishes no count of how many applicants it interviewed. We checked on 2026-09-23.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- Newcastle University says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Newcastle says "Candidates with a UCAT Situational Judgement Test Band of 4 (the lowest band) will not be considered." Its 2027 policy then adds the SJT band to the final interview score, with Band 1 worth 5 points, Band 2 worth 3 and Band 3 worth 1, weighted the same as one interview station.
- No UCAT figure from Newcastle University's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-10-09, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-09)
What the school says
Newcastle publishes no UCAT threshold for this cycle. Home A100 applicants are ranked on a combined score out of 100, with up to 40 points for grades and up to 60 for the UCAT, and its course page says the threshold may differ in each admissions cycle because it depends on the scores of that cycle's applicants. The thresholds document the course page links to is no longer online, so no past figures are given here.
- Newcastle University says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Newcastle's 2027 policy gives A100 home applicants up to 40 points for GCSEs, up to 40 for A levels and up to 60 for the total UCAT score, and says "A100 home applicants’ academic and UCAT points will be combined to give an overall “academic screen” score, and applications will be ranked according to this score." International and A101 applicants are ranked on UCAT alone.
- Queen's University Belfast says it uses the SJT only to separate applicants with similar scores.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Queen's says "The UCAT Situational Judgement Test (SJT) can be used at two points to inform decisions: 1. On borderline applicants who have achieved a similar combined academic and UCAT score." The second point is borderline applicants with a similar score at interview.
- No UCAT figure from Queen's University Belfast's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Queen's publishes no UCAT threshold. Its admissions FAQ describes the UCAT only in terms of the deadline and one tie-break rule: where two candidates finish level in rank order after interview and only one place remains, the offer goes to the candidate with the higher SJT score. So the SJT is a decider at the very end here rather than a filter at the start.
- Queen's University Belfast says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Queen's says "All applicants will be scored at Stage 1 of the selection process and ranked on the basis of their combined academic and UCAT score." Its 2027 policy awards up to nine UCAT points by decile rank, and the UCAT score is added to the GCSE points score to give an overall total.
- St Mary's University, Twickenham says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Applications are considered only with an SJT band of 1 to 3, so Band 4 rules an applicant out. The band is reviewed alongside the three cognitive subtests, each of which must be 500 or above. Applicants meeting the academic, UCAT and SJT requirements are invited to MMI.
- No UCAT figure from St Mary's University, Twickenham's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-04, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-04)
What the school says
St Mary's publishes no UCAT threshold, mean or median. What it does publish is the shape of the review: all three cognitive subtests are considered rather than the total alone, so an uneven profile is visible here in a way it would not be at a school ranking on total.
- St Mary's University, Twickenham says it applies a minimum UCAT, so clearing it is necessary but not enough on its own.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
All applicants sit the UCAT. St Mary's reviews scores across all three cognitive subtests, Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning, alongside the SJT band, rather than looking at the total alone, and its course page sets a floor for 2027/28 entry: applications are considered with each subtest at 500 or above and an SJT band of 1 to 3.
- St Mary's University, Twickenham publishes no count of how many applicants it interviewed. We checked on 2026-09-23.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- University of Bristol says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Bristol's 2027 Medicine admissions statement says "The combined score from all subtests, with the exception of Situational Judgement, will be used to select applicants for interview." The statement gives no SJT band rule.
- No UCAT figure from University of Bristol's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-14, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-14)
What the school says
Bristol scores shortlisting on the UCAT with a 100% weighting once academic requirements are met, and has stopped using the personal statement as a weighted component. Where applicants tie at interview, the UCAT is the primary differentiator. Bristol's admissions statement sets no cut-off in advance, and its course page publishes the realised threshold afterwards: for 2026 entry the final UCAT threshold score to be invited to interview was 2240 for home applicants and 2270 for overseas. Those figures are last cycle's landing point rather than a bar to measure a score against, which is why no threshold figure is shown beside one: Bristol states that a specific score cannot be used with certainty to predict an invitation.
- University of Bristol says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Bristol's medicine admissions statement says that once minimum academic entry requirements are met, predicted or achieved, an application is scored with a 100 per cent weighting on the UCAT result, and that this is used to select candidates for interview. The combined score from all subtests except Situational Judgement is the score used. Bristol does publish the figures actually applied last cycle: for 2026 entry the final UCAT threshold score to be invited to interview was 2240 for home applicants and 2270 for overseas applicants. Bristol adds that the number used as a threshold for interview is subject to change year on year.
- University of Cambridge says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Cambridge says it looks at the overall UCAT cognitive subtest score and adds "We will not be using the situational judgement score as part of our assessment for 2027 entry."
- No UCAT figure from University of Cambridge's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Cambridge states there is no minimum UCAT threshold. It uses the overall cognitive subtest score as part of selection for interview and may use it again when making offers, weighed alongside the academic record and the interviews rather than as a gate. The detail worth knowing is what it ignores: Cambridge does not use the situational judgement score at all for 2027 entry, so a band that would end an application at several other schools carries no weight here.
- University of Cambridge says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Cambridge looks at an applicant's overall UCAT cognitive subtest score and says "We will use results as part of our selection for interview and may use them when making offers. We will consider your results alongside all the other information we know about you." It states there is no minimum threshold for UCAT score.
- No UCAT figure from University of Exeter's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Exeter publishes no threshold, mean or median. It sorts applications by academic profile together with the overall UCAT score to decide who is interviewed, so the test is one of two inputs at that stage rather than the sole gate it is at several other schools.
- University of Exeter says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Exeter says applicants who meet its published entry requirements "will have their UCAT and Academic qualifications weighted to assign an Exeter score. Weightings will be a ratio of 3:1 Academic achievement /UCAT." Home applicants are then ranked on this score and the highest ranked are selected for interview.
- University of Exeter publishes no count of how many applicants it interviewed. We checked on 2026-09-23.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- No UCAT figure from University of Hertfordshire's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-04, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-04)
What the school says
Hertfordshire has no standard cut-off value and says so. Applicants meeting the academic requirements are ranked by UCAT and the top of that ranking is invited to interview, and the school states explicitly that it is not possible to tell applicants in advance what score will be enough.
- University of Hertfordshire says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Hertfordshire says it has no standard UCAT cut-off. "Applicants will be ranked by their UCAT score and a certain number will be invited to an Interview, provided they meet our main academic entry requirements."
- University of Hull and York Medical School says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
HYMS ranks applicants for interview on a points score in which the UCAT Situational Judgement Test band counts for up to 15 points. It says "Points are allocated depending on the SJT Band achieved, up to a maximum of 15 points. We do not accept Band 4."
- No UCAT figure from University of Hull and York Medical School's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Hull York publishes no threshold, mean or median. It awards points on both the total UCAT score and the SJT band, so the SJT carries positive weight here rather than acting only as a disqualifier, which is the more common arrangement.
- University of Hull and York Medical School says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
HYMS ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements on a points score and invites the top scorers to interview, with no specific score required. Points come from GCSEs (best six grades, up to 35 points), the total UCAT decile (up to 35 points), the UCAT SJT band (up to 15 points; Band 4 is not accepted) and contextual admissions points (up to 15 points).
- University of Kent and Medway School of Medicine says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Kent and Medway says: "SJTs form part of the UCAT test. The results are graded in bands from one to four. KMMS will not consider applications from anyone with a band 4 score."
- No UCAT figure from University of Kent and Medway School of Medicine's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-10-08, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
KMMS publishes a selection threshold but not means or medians. Its 2027 entry requirements page says that in 2025-6 it operated a selection threshold of a total UCAT of 1850 or above, which it says corresponded to the 47th centile, with SJT band 3 or above (band 2 or above for graduates); its older 2026 entry page still prints 2490 for the same cycle. The 1850 is a stage 2a pass mark rather than the lowest score interviewed: a stage 2b follows, and KMMS states that high scorers will not necessarily be selected over lower scorers who also passed. It is therefore not recorded as an interview threshold here, and KMMS does not commit to the same or a similar figure for 2027 entry.
- University of Kent and Medway School of Medicine says it applies a minimum UCAT, so clearing it is necessary but not enough on its own.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Kent and Medway applies a UCAT threshold that it does not commit to in advance, then a further contextualised stage: "Please note that because there is a stage 2b after the UCAT selection, high UCAT scorers will not necessarily be selected over lower scorers who still pass the threshold."
- University of Kent and Medway School of Medicine publishes no count of how many applicants it interviewed. We checked on 2026-09-23.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- No UCAT figure from University of Lancashire's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Now the University of Lancashire. It publishes no threshold, mean or median, stating only that the UCAT is used as part of the selection process before interview. Its former restriction of UK applicants to the North West has been lifted, which changes who can realistically apply far more than any threshold would.
- University of Lancashire says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
The University of Lancashire says applicants meeting its minimum academic requirements are given an academic score, and that "For UK applicants, your UCAT results will be utilised as part of the interview selection process." Its personal statement and reference are also scored, and the UCAT threshold is set each cycle and not known beforehand.
- University of Lancashire publishes no count of how many applicants it interviewed. We checked on 2026-09-23.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- No UCAT figure from University of Leicester's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Leicester publishes no threshold score but does publish a decile rule, which is more durable because it moves with the national cohort. Home fee status candidates in their first gap year are automatically invited to interview with a total UCAT in the top five deciles and an SJT in bands 1 to 3. Leicester also warns that its A100 scoring changed substantially for 2026 entry because of the change to the UCAT total, so earlier cycles are not a guide. The full method is set out in its published A100 scoring document.
- For 2026 entry, University of Leicester published that it interviewed 1,493 of 1,977 applicants in the group it calls "Home". That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)

- University of Lincoln says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Lincoln gives points for the SJT band within its interview selection score: "Scoring for the Situational Judgement Test (SJT) band of the UCAT Score will be applied as follows. The maximum score that can be achieved is 15." Band 1 earns 15 points, Band 2 earns 10 and Band 3 earns 5, and "Applicants who score an SJT Band 4 cannot progress to interview and will be rejected at the point of application."
- No UCAT figure from University of Lincoln's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Lincoln publishes no threshold and says it has none, but it does publish the machinery, which is more useful. The UCAT contributes up to 30 of the 60 points in its Combined Academic Score, so it is worth half the shortlisting score, and where two candidates tie the raw UCAT total breaks it, meaning the test counts twice in effect. A band 4 SJT ends the application.
- University of Lincoln says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Lincoln says selection for interview uses a Combined Academic Score, "typically made up of a combination of GCSE results, University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) scores; and contextualisation score where applicable, to a maximum total score of 60". Candidates are ranked on this score and the highest ranked are invited to interview.
- University of Lincoln publishes no count of how many applicants it interviewed. We checked on 2026-09-23.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- University of Liverpool says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out for home applicants.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
SJT is checked alongside UCAT at the ranking stage. Home applicants must score band 1 to 3 in the situational judgement test for their application to be processed; international and EU applicants may offer any of the four SJT bands.
- No UCAT figure from University of Liverpool's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-10-08, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Liverpool publishes an estimate rather than a threshold, and labels it as such. Based on its 2026-entry cut-offs, it expects home applicants applying in 2026 for 2027 entry to need a score in the 5th to 7th candidate decile, which it gives as 1880 to 2010, and international applicants the 7th to 9th decile, 2010 to 2220. It stresses these vary annually with the applicant pool and are for guidance only. No threshold figure is shown, because an estimate treated as a cut-off would start ruling people out on a number Liverpool never committed to. How the UCAT is actually used is published each year in Liverpool's A100 Departmental Supplement to the Admissions Policy, which it expects applicants to read before applying.
- University of Liverpool says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Applicants are ranked on their overall UCAT score; Liverpool states it uses the overall score and not individual subtest scores in that ranking, and the top-scoring applicants then progress to the second stage, academic assessment. The cut-offs published for 2026 entry were 1960 for home applicants and 2080 for international and EU applicants. Liverpool says cut-off scores vary from year to year, and that it removed historic UCAT scores from its website because the UCAT itself changed for 2026 entry. Graduate applicants to A100 are ranked on the GAMSAT instead, on overall score, with a minimum of 50 in each sub-component.
- University of Nottingham says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Nottingham gives points for the SJT band in the score it uses to select for interview, and excludes band 4: "Situational Judgement Test scoring Band Points Band 1 10 Band 2 6 Band 3 2 Band 4 0 If you achieve Band 4 on the SJT test, you won't be considered for an interview."
- No UCAT figure from University of Nottingham's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Nottingham states there is no fixed threshold score to be selected for interview, that thresholds change each year with applicant numbers and overall performance, and, unusually explicitly, that it does not share information about previous years' interview thresholds. There is no figure to find here, rather than one nobody has looked for.
- University of Nottingham says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Nottingham publishes points for GCSE grades, UCAT cognitive subtests (with verbal reasoning doubled) and SJT bands, and says "Your GCSE and UCAT scores will be added together. There is no fixed threshold score when selecting for interview."
- No UCAT figure from University of Plymouth's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Plymouth says it cannot confirm the cut-off for a cycle until all applications have been received and assessed, so no figure exists at the point an applicant would need it. Any number quoted for Plymouth during an open cycle did not come from Plymouth.
- University of Plymouth says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
UCAT results are used alongside A-levels and GCSEs to select for interview, and Plymouth's Admissions Advisory Panel reserves the right to consider all aspects of the UCAT when shortlisting. The test is valid for 12 months and must be sat in the year of application. Plymouth states that the threshold score applied to determine selection for interview can alter each year, influenced by overall candidate performance in the UCAT and the number and quality of applications received, and that it cannot confirm the cut-off for the coming academic year until all applications have been received and assessed. It also states that the advertised typical offers are not necessarily the threshold for interview selection.
- University of Southampton says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Southampton ranks applicants by UCAT score to decide who is invited to a Selection Day, and says "The University of Southampton does not currently use the Situational Judgement Test." No SJT band is named as a requirement or as a reason for rejection.
- No UCAT figure from University of Southampton's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-01, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Southampton ranks everyone who meets the entry requirements by UCAT score and invites from the top, and states outright that the score of those attending a selection day varies year on year so it is not possible to indicate what is required. Two details are worth knowing beyond that: offers are made on interview performance alone, and the UCAT returns only as a tie-breaker if two candidates finish level after the selection day.
- University of Southampton says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Southampton says "Applicants for BM4 and BM5 will be ranked by UCAT score to determine who should be invited to a Selection Day." It adds that the UCAT score of applicants attending a Selection Day varies year on year, so it cannot say in advance what score is needed.

- No UCAT figure from University of Sunderland's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-10-08, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Sunderland states a rank rather than a score for the current cycle: the total must fall within the top eight deciles of the cohort, with an SJT in bands 1 to 3. It does publish past minimum scores, adjusted for the removal of abstract reasoning: 1670 (2024), 1680 (2023), 1650 (2022), 1670 (2021) and 1690 (2020). Sunderland labels these by year without saying whether the year is the test year or the entry year, or whether they are minimums for interview or for offer, so no threshold is set here. In practice the top eight deciles is a comparatively generous bar, excluding roughly the bottom fifth of test takers.
- University of Sunderland says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Sunderland requires UCAT scores in the top 8 deciles of the cohort and an SJT in bands 1 to 3. It then says "Shortlisting for interview is based on our interview selection tool, academic requirements, and UCAT score." It publishes no weighting between these.

- Anglia Ruskin University says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Anglia Ruskin applies an SJT rule before interview: "Applicants with an SJT score of Band 4 (lowest band) will not be invited for interview." Its routes that offer an interview regardless of UCAT score still require SJT band 1-3.

- Anglia Ruskin University says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Anglia Ruskin says it has no standard UCAT cut-off and that "Applicants will be ranked by their UCAT score, including any uplifts applied, and a certain number will be invited to an Interview Day, provided they meet our main academic entry requirements." Uplifts apply to applicants living in the East of England and Essex.

- Keele University says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Keele says "Applicants with a total UCAT score below 1,700 or a situational judgement test (SJT) result in band 4 will not be considered." The SJT band also earns points in the UCAT grade it uses to rank home applicants: "A score between 1 and 10 is calculated from the UCAT scores as follows: UCAT quintile Points UCAT SJT band Points".

- Keele University says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Keele says home applicants are shortlisted on a published combined score: "The UCAT grade and personal statement grade will be calculated as shown below and combined to give a total on a scale of 1 to 25. This total mark will be used to rank A100 applicants for interview."
- Lancaster University says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Lancaster ranks applicants for interview on their overall UCAT score, and the SJT band acts only as a cut-off: "Please note that we will not consider applicants with an SJT score in band 4." Bands 1 to 3 are not given any further weight on this page.
- Lancaster University published a UCAT figure of 1,920 for 2026 entry. Enter your total to compare.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
- Lancaster University says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Lancaster first checks that applicants meet its academic entry requirements, then shortlists on the UCAT: "Applicants who meet our academic requirements will be ranked according to their overall UCAT score. Invitations to interview will be made based upon this ranking." It also says contextual information is considered when reviewing UCAT scores.

- Queen Mary University of London says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Queen Mary requires SJT Bands 1-3 at first shortlisting for Medicine and states "Your application will not be considered further than the first shortlisting if you scored SJT Band 4." The SJT may be considered again after interview.

- Queen Mary University of London says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Queen Mary first rejects MBBS applicants below the fourth UCAT decile or in SJT Band 4. At second shortlisting, "Applicants will then be selected for interview on the basis of a weighted score compared to other applicants who apply in the same year, and may be comprised of UCAT score, UCAS tariff of entry qualifications predicted or achieved".

- St George's, University of London says the SJT counts within its interview score rather than at shortlisting.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
City St George's shortlists for interview on UCAT score, then uses the SJT after interview: "Once all of our interviews are conducted, we rank MMI and SJT scores and the highest performing applicants within each group are made an offer to study Medicine at City St George's." It publishes no SJT band cut-off.

What the school says
City St George's says each applicant who meets its entry criteria is ranked by UCAT score within separate home, overseas and graduate groups: "Interview places will be allocated to applicants who have the highest UCAT scores within the groups above, until all of our available interview places are filled." The cut-off is set by the number of interviews available.

What the school says
Birmingham gives each standard applicant an overall score made from academic (GCSE), UCAT and contextual parts, and ranks applicants on it to select for interview. It says "The weighting will be: 45% academic, 40% UCAT and 15% contextual." The UCAT part uses the three cognitive subtests, scored by national decile.

What the school says
Edinburgh sets a minimum UCAT total of 1850 for 2027 entry, except for Plus Flag applicants. It then ranks UCAT totals into deciles, gives each decile a score and scores the SJT band. "The points are then added to your academic score to contribute towards your final ranking for shortlisting and possible invitation to one of our Assessment Days."

What the school says
Manchester sets its medicine UCAT threshold each year after November results, based on that year's scores, so it cannot publish it in advance. It says "Where the number of highly scoring candidates exceeds the number of interview slots available, we will rank candidates according to UCAT total score and SJT band."

- University of Oxford says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Oxford states that it will not use an applicant's situational judgement score at the shortlisting stage; for UCAT results at that stage it looks only at the overall cognitive subtest score. Oxford does not say, on its pre-clinical requirements page, its application-process page or its shortlisting FAQ, whether the situational judgement band re-enters the process at any later point, and it publishes no band cut-off. Its description of what colleges review after interview refers to the candidate rank from the second college and the UCAT score, and does not mention the situational judgement band.

- University of Oxford says it scores applicants on a published points or weighted system that includes the UCAT, so your UCAT is one part of the score that decides interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Oxford establishes a numerical ranking from UCAT results and, where an applicant has completed them, GCSE results; that ranking forms the basis of an initial shortlist. For applicants with GCSEs, GCSEs and UCAT carry equal weight at the first stage of shortlisting. Double weight is given to the UCAT for applicants without GCSEs, for those who took GCSEs between summer 2020 and summer 2021, and for those who took five or fewer GCSEs. Only the overall cognitive subtest score is used. Because Oxford shortlists the same number of people every year using two variables that carry the same weight, it states there is no actual cut-off for either variable and that it is therefore impossible to advise on the exact UCAT score an applicant would need.
- University of Sheffield says the SJT counts within its interview score rather than at shortlisting.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Sheffield uses the SJT after interview rather than to shortlist: the SJT quartile is converted into a score out of five, and "Your MMI and Situational Judgement Test scores will be added together for a total score out of 45." Applicants are then ranked on this total for offers.
- University of Sheffield published a UCAT figure of 1,800 for 2027 entry. Enter your total to compare.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
- University of Sheffield says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Sheffield checks minimum academic requirements and a minimum UCAT threshold, then says "All other applications will be ranked according to their UCAT scores and only those with the highest UCAT scores will progress to the next stage of the selection process." Some widening participation applicants progress once they meet the minimum threshold.
Figures shown for context, not compared (7)

- Imperial College London says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Imperial's published answers for 2026 entry list the SJT rule it applied at each fee status: "UCAT Thresholds for Home Applicants • SJT: Band 3 minimum (Band 4 discounted)" and "UCAT Thresholds for Overseas / European Union / Query Applicants* • SJT: Band 3 minimum (Band 4 discounted)". Widening participation applicants were held to the same Band 3 minimum.
- We hold a UCAT figure for Imperial College London that we have not yet traced to a page on its own site, so it is not compared with your total here.
What the school says
For 2026 entry the threshold was 2320/2700 for home applicants and 2170 for widening participation, both requiring SJT band 3 or better. Imperial calculates the threshold each year by ranking applicants and cutting where its interview capacity runs out, normally the top third, so the figure is a consequence of the field rather than a standard. It switched to the UCAT only for 2025 entry, so it has two cycles of history and says its own numbers should not be read as a guarantee. A separate overseas figure of 2310 is widely reported but was not confirmed on Imperial's own pages, so it is not recorded.
- Imperial College London says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Imperial says that after checking minimum academic entry requirements, "Candidates are selected for interview based on their UCAT scores. The College calculates threshold UCAT scores each year as a result of ranked candidate UCAT scores versus number of expected interview sessions."
- King's College London says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
King's states that the SJT is not taken into account when shortlisting for interview; only the overall UCAT score is considered.
- King's College London's published UCAT figures are measured out of 3,600, a scale the UCAT no longer uses, so they are shown for context and not compared with your total out of 2,700.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Out of 3,600, so not comparable with a current score, but the shape is the lesson. For UK applicants in the 2024 cycle the mean UCAT rose from 2759 across everyone who applied to 3007 among those interviewed, a jump of nearly 250 marks, and then barely moved to 3005 among offer holders. In other words the UCAT does almost all its work at the interview gate and almost none after it: past that point the interview decides. King's states plainly that the lowest scores it lists are not cut-offs and that not everyone above them was invited. Interview scores tell the second half of the story, averaging 75% across all interviewees and 80% among those who received offers.
- King's College London says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
King's applied no minimum UCAT threshold in the most recent cycle. Applications were ranked on UCAT performance, GCSE grades and widening participation indicators; the overall UCAT score is used and individual subtest scores are not considered separately. The level of UCAT performance needed for interview varies with the strength of each year's applicant cohort.
- For 2024 entry, King's College London published that it interviewed 796 of 1,981 home applicants. That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you. - University of Aberdeen says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Aberdeen requires the full UCAT, but the score it allocates in selection is the total of the three cognitive subtests only - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Decision Making - so the SJT does not enter that score. Aberdeen publishes no SJT band cut-off or separate SJT weighting.
- University of Aberdeen publishes its UCAT figures separately by where applicants live, and the figures we hold are for rest-of-UK applicants. Tell us which UK nation you live in to compare.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Recorded here on the rest-of-UK figures, since that is the route an applicant from England takes: mean UCAT at interview 1990/2700 and lowest interviewed 1720 against 222 applications, 164 interviews and 133 offers. Scottish applicants faced a slightly lower bar, mean 1960 and lowest 1700, from 955 applications, 839 interviews and 643 offers. International was highest at mean 2010 and lowest 1730, from 455 applications for 149 interviews and 90 offers, by far the most competitive of the three.
- University of Aberdeen says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Aberdeen publishes one weighting for medicine: academic attainment and predictions 30%, UCAT 20%, interview performance 50%. It does not publish a separate pre-interview weighting, so how the academic and UCAT shares are scaled against each other to decide who is invited is not stated. A minimum UCAT cut-off score is not used; a score is allocated on overall UCAT performance compared with all other applicants to Aberdeen.
- For 2026 entry, University of Aberdeen published that it interviewed 839 of 955 applicants in the group it calls "Scottish". That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)

- University of Dundee says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Dundee states that UCAT Situational Judgement Test bands are not used as part of the initial selection for interview process, so a weaker band does not block an applicant at the shortlisting stage. Dundee does not state how the band is treated after that point.
- University of Dundee's published UCAT figures are measured out of 3,600, a scale the UCAT no longer uses, so they are shown for context and not compared with your total out of 2,700.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Out of 3,600, not 2,700: Dundee's published table stops at 2023-24 entry, before Abstract Reasoning was withdrawn, so none of it can be set against a current score. Across 2019-20 to 2023-24 the average UCAT of those invited to interview moved very little, from 2674 to 2675, peaking at 2715. The lowest score interviewed is the more revealing figure and swings hard: 1980, 1480, 2090, 1940 and 1900 across the same five years, so in some years Dundee interviewed people more than a thousand marks below its own top scorers.
- We read University of Dundee's page and it states no method for how the UCAT is weighed in deciding interviews.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
All applicants must sit the UCAT in their year of application, and Dundee states there is no minimum cut-off score. Its entry requirements page gives no percentage weighting and no scoring formula combining the UCAT with academic scores.
- For 2023-24 entry, University of Dundee published that it interviewed 625 of 985 applicants in the group it calls "Scotland-domiciled". - University of East Anglia says the SJT counts within its interview score rather than at shortlisting.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
The SJT component score is included within the interview score rather than treated as a separate gate. UEA publishes no SJT band threshold and names no band as an automatic rejection; after interview, applicants are ranked on interview score, which carries the SJT, alongside overall UCAT score, and the two are weighted equally.
- University of East Anglia's published UCAT figures are measured out of 3,600, a scale the UCAT no longer uses, so they are shown for context and not compared with your total out of 2,700.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Out of 3,600, from UEA's own freedom of information disclosures rather than a statistics page. The trend is the interesting part: the lowest score invited fell every year, 2340 then 2190 then 2080, while the average of those invited also fell, 2849 then 2795 then 2743. UEA got easier on the UCAT three years running even as it interviewed more people from fewer applications, 699 interviews from 1,012 applications for 2025 entry against 622 from 1,688 two years earlier. It made 599 offers for 192 places. UEA also states that personal statements are read but not assessed or scored in any way, that GCSEs and A-levels carry no weighting in shortlisting, and that the EPQ is not considered.
- University of East Anglia says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
UEA says it has no UCAT cut-off score, and that "The overall UCAT score is used to rank applicants for selection for interview." Applicants must first pass primary screening against its minimum academic entry criteria.
- For 2025 entry, University of East Anglia published that it interviewed 699 of 1,012 home applicants. That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
- University of Glasgow says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
Glasgow lists the UCAT as three cognitive subtests, verbal reasoning, decision making and quantitative reasoning, alongside the Situational Judgement Test, and then states in one line that it does not consider the SJT portion of the UCAT. Only the cognitive total counts towards the score threshold Glasgow uses to decide interviews.
- University of Glasgow publishes its UCAT figures separately by where applicants live, and the figures we hold are for Scotland-domiciled applicants. Tell us which UK nation you live in to compare.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Glasgow sets three different thresholds by domicile for 2026 entry and the spread is 280 marks: 1870/2700 for Scottish applicants, 1990 for the rest of the UK, and 2150 for international and EU. The 1870 held here is the Scottish figure, deliberately the lowest of the three so that no applicant is wrongly told they are blocked, but an applicant from England should read their own bar as 1990. Glasgow will not know its 2027 thresholds until November 2026 and does not publish them until the cycle closes in September 2027.
- University of Glasgow says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Glasgow says "Interviews are allocated accordingly by UCAT score for those that meet all other screening aspects (e.g. minimum academic requirements and satisfactory personal statement and reference)." It adds that the lowest UCAT score it considers changes each year and may differ by applicant group.
- For 2025 entry, University of Glasgow published that it interviewed 658 of 942 applicants in the group it calls "Scots Domiciled". That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- For 2025 entry, University of Glasgow published that it interviewed 351 of 491 applicants in the group it calls "Rest of UK". That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-23)
- University of St Andrews's published UCAT figures are measured out of 3,600, a scale the UCAT no longer uses, so they are shown for context and not compared with your total out of 2,700.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
What the school says
Out of 3,600. St Andrews' own page says the 2025 maximum is 2700 and then reports offer-holder means of 2736, 2923 and 3016 for the same cycle, which is impossible on that scale, so the whole table is read here as the old 3,600 one and none of it can be compared with a current score. Domicile changes the bar enormously: for 2025-26 the mean UCAT of offer holders was 2736 for Scottish applicants, 2923 for rest of UK and 2837 for overseas, and the lowest interviewed was 2230, 2400 and 2660 respectively. A rest-of-UK applicant faces a materially harder route than a Scottish one.
- University of St Andrews says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
St Andrews does not score applications component by component. Applicants who meet its requirements are ranked on the basis of their UCAT global score, and those ranked in the top 650 or so are given an interview. Decisions to make offers are based on the interview score, and where applicants have the same interview score the global UCAT score is used to differentiate between them. Widening participation applicants who meet, or are predicted to meet, the required academic grades and who meet any of a list of criteria are given a 10 per cent increase in their UCAT score, which is used in the ranking for invitation to interview.
- For 2025-26 entry, University of St Andrews published that it interviewed 298 of 417 applicants in the group it calls "Scotland-domiciled". That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-14)

They do not use the UCAT (2)
No UCAT total changes anything at these schools.
- University of Buckingham says it does not require the UCAT for current entry.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
No UCAT required. Selection is by academic screening of the written application followed by a Multiple Mini Interview; the course page no longer lists the in-house Multiple Mini Assessment (MMA), though Buckingham's Selection Days page still does.

- University of Greater Manchester says it does not require the UCAT for current entry.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-14)
What the school says
Greater Manchester does not require the UCAT for the cycles currently open. It states that from the September 2028 cohort onwards all applicants to its School of Medicine are required to take the UCAT, and that the test helps universities widen access and make fairer choices among the many highly qualified applicants. For September 2026 and September 2027 entry there is no UCAT requirement at all.

- Pears Cumbria School of Medicine says it applies a minimum UCAT, so clearing it is necessary but not enough on its own.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)
What the school says
All applicants must meet a minimum threshold score in either the GAMSAT or the UCAT. The GAMSAT must be taken within the two years before the UCAS submission date; the UCAT must be taken in the same year as the UCAS submission. Cumbria does publish its thresholds: for 2026 entry it applied a minimum UCAT total of 1960 or a minimum GAMSAT total of 59 for home applicants, reduced to 1910 and 53 respectively for contextual applicants. Cumbria notes that 2026-entry UCAT scores differ because the abstract reasoning section was removed, giving a lower maximum total of 2700 rather than 3600. No threshold for a later cycle is published on this page.

- Swansea University says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Swansea states that UCAT Situational Judgement bands will not be considered; only the UCAT total, from a test sat in the year of application, is used.
- Swansea University published a UCAT figure of 1,900 for 2026 entry. Enter your total to compare.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-01)
- Swansea University says it ranks applicants who meet its academic requirements by UCAT, so your UCAT carries more weight in reaching interview there than at a school that scores the whole application.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Swansea says that for all admissions tests "a cut-score will be determined to select candidates for interview. This may be higher than the set minimum score and will be determined annually based on the number of applications received." Applicants meeting the annual cut-off are invited, and test results are then considered no further.

- No UCAT figure from University of Chester's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-10-08, and what it says is below.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Chester sets a minimum threshold in whichever admissions test was taken and states that it fluctuates annually and is set above the national mean. Its course page also prints a table it labels as a guide to the 2025 admissions thresholds: UCAT overall 2540 with at least 570 in Verbal Reasoning, GAMSAT 60 with at least 50 in Paper 3, and MCAT 505 with at least 127 in Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills and no section below 125. Chester does not say which UCAT scale the 2540 is on, and the label points to a cycle before the current 2,700-point scale, so it is not shown as a threshold here.
- University of Chester says it applies a minimum UCAT, so clearing it is necessary but not enough on its own.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Chester requires applicants to meet a minimum threshold mark in the UCAT, GAMSAT or MCAT, which it says fluctuates annually and is set above the national mean. It states "All applicants who successfully meet the academic criteria and entry test standards will be required to attend for interview."

- University of Surrey says a band 4 in the SJT rules an application out.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-08)
What the school says
Candidates sitting the UCAT must have a situational judgement test band of 3 or above to be considered for interview, and a candidate with an SJT band of 4 is rejected. This rule appears in Surrey's Medicine (Graduate Entry) BMBS admissions process policy for 2027 entry, which the 2027-entry course page links as the guide to what to expect.
- No UCAT figure from University of Surrey's interview stage is recorded to measure you against: no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed. We last read its statistics pages on 2026-09-04, and what it says is below.School's page: source not linked (checked 2026-09-04)
What the school says
Surrey publishes no UCAT threshold, mean or median. The SJT is the one hard gate it does name: band 3 or above is required for interview, so a band 4 ends a UCAT application here regardless of the cognitive total.
- University of Surrey says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Surrey's 2027 admissions policy says its review group selects candidates by anonymised ranking of admissions test score, and that "Applications will be sorted according to academic profile and GAMSAT (or UCAT) overall score in order to determine which applicants will receive an offer of an interview." No weighting between the two is published.

- University of Warwick says it does not use the SJT band when deciding who to interview.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Warwick shortlists by combining UCAT total score with previous academic achievement, after a minimum Verbal Reasoning score, and says of the Situational Judgement Test: "We do not use SJT bands as part of our admissions process." No band is named as a reason for rejection.

- University of Warwick says it weighs the UCAT alongside other parts of the application and publishes no formula, so no single comparison decides interview there.School's page: source (checked 2026-10-13)
What the school says
Warwick requires a Verbal Reasoning score at least equal to the mean of all test-takers, then says "We do not have an absolute minimum total UCAT score; scores are combined with previous academic achievements in our shortlisting process." It publishes no weighting, and says the total score needed for its Multiple Mini Interviews varies year on year.
- For 2026 entry, University of Warwick published that it interviewed 549 of 1,326 home applicants. That is a figure about everyone who applied, not a prediction about you.School's page: source (checked 2026-09-13)

What the school says
Worcester states it has no hard cut-off because the bar depends on the shape of each year's curve. It accepts the GAMSAT as an alternative to the UCAT, and every shortlisted applicant must then sit CASPer, a separate situational judgement test, so the aptitude testing does not end with the UCAT.

Save your answers and hear when a school's figure changes
A free account keeps what you entered and tells you when a figure you were measured against is updated. Every result above stays free either way.
All 51 medicine courses carry entry requirements and a UCAT position read from the school's own pages. 14 publish a figure on the current UCAT scale a score can be measured against, and 4 publish one on a scale the UCAT no longer uses, shown for context only. Requirements are the most recent published figures, not a promise for the live cycle, and every school reserves the right to move them. Clearing a bar is not an interview: a school that publishes a bar can still rank everyone who clears it. Treat this as a filter rather than a shortlist, and check anything that matters with the school before you spend a choice on it.
Then read the school
A line in this check is one comparison. Before you spend a UCAS choice, read the school's own entry in the school directory and how it interviews.
Common questions
- Can this tell me my chances of getting an interview?
- No, and nothing honest can. Only 24 of the 68 UK medicine and dentistry courses publish any UCAT figure from the interview stage on the current scale, no school publishes the full spread of scores it interviewed, and where a school publishes a weighting it does not publish how each part is scored. Any percentage would have to invent those numbers. What this does instead is put your figures next to what each school did publish about last cycle's interviewees, one sentence per comparison, each linked to the school's own page.
- Where do the figures come from?
- From each school's own admissions or statistics pages, never from forums or other sites. Every line links to the page it was read from and gives the date we last checked it. A school's figure describes last cycle's applicants, not this cycle's, and the line says which cycle.
- Why is there nothing to measure my UCAT against at most schools?
- Because 44 of the 68 courses publish no threshold, lowest score interviewed or average of those interviewed on the current UCAT scale that we hold. We say so rather than fill the gap with a figure the school never published. For those schools the check shows how each says it decides who to interview, in its own words.
- Why does it ask for my SJT band and where I live?
- Some schools publish an SJT rule, most often that band 4 rules an application out, and the check tests your band against it where we have read the rule. Scottish schools publish separate figures for Scotland-domiciled and rest-of-UK applicants, so where we hold one group's figure, the nation you live in decides whether it is yours to be measured against. Both are optional, and nothing you enter leaves your browser.
- Why was a published figure shown but not compared with my score?
- For one of four reasons, and the line under the school says which. The figure is on the old 3,600-point UCAT. It is for an entry year before 2025, more than two years before the newest figures we hold (2027 entry). We have not yet traced it to a page on the school's own site. Or it was published for a different group of applicants from yours.
- Is it free?
- Yes, every result for every course, with no account. A free account only adds keeping what you entered and being told when a figure you were measured against changes.
